Buskirk Project Based Voucher (PBV) Program

The North Charleston Housing Authority (NCHA) will officially open the Buskirk Project Based Voucher (PBV) Program online at nchas.myhousing.com on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. thru May 5, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.

  • ALL FAMILY MEMBERS MUST BE 62 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.   Application will be ranked and selected by date and time of receipt of application.

Disabled, elderly individual or a person(s) with limited English Proficiency (LEP) with limited ability to access the on-line Application may call (843) 553-6659, on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to request a reasonable accommodation.   Any request received after this date and time will not be considered. 

Be prepared to provide the Name, Address and phone number of an individual such as a doctor or other medical professional, a peer support group, a non-medical service agency or reliable third party who is able to make the determination or is in a position to know about the individual's disability and can provide verification of a disability.   If NCHA determines the limitations imposed by the disability do not require a request for accommodation, your application will be withdrawn and not processed. 

NCHA's on-line application is available in English and Spanish. Recorded information in English is available at 843-747-1793 (Do Not Press "0").

Person(s) interested must complete the online application at nchas.myhousing.com. You can only submit ONE application when the wait list(s) are open.  Duplicate forms will not be accepted.  After you have successfully applied, you will receive an email receipt if you have provided a valid email address. 

All future correspondence will be received by mail. Failure to respond to any request will result in your name being removed from the waitlist.

Two (2) days after you apply, you may create an Applicant Portal Login user name and password. Any changes you wish to make must be completed through the Applicant Portal, which can be accessed at https://nchas.myhousing.com/Account/Login.

Following the application procedure, all applicants will be placed on the waiting list.  Placement on the waiting list does not indicate that the family is, in fact, eligible for assistance.  A final determination of eligibility will be made when the family is selected from the waiting list.

The North Charleston Housing Authority (NCHA) will officially open the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) online at nchas.myhousing.com on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

Disabled, elderly individuals, or a person(s) with limited English Proficiency (LEP) with limited ability to access the online Application may come to the office located at 6327 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on the day the wait list(s) are opened.

NCHA's online application is available in English and Spanish. Recorded information in English is available at 843-747-1793 (Do Not Press "0").

  • Horizon Village (Barony Place)-The NCHA will accept applications for 3 and 4 bedroom units only.

  • Phoenix Apartments-The NCHA will accept applications for 2 and 4 bedroom units only.

The North Charleston Housing Authority (NCHA) will officially re-open the Buskirk Project-Based Voucher (PBV) waitlist on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 10:00 am, online for the following:

  • Buskirk Project-Based Voucher (PBV) program - The NCHA will accept applications on February 23rd, 2022 for 1-bedroom apartments. All family members MUST be 62 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. The waitlist will close on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Application will be ranked and selected by date and time of receipt of the application.

If you are a person(s) with disabilities that limits your ability to access the online pre-application process, please call (843) 553-6659, on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to request a reasonable accommodation. Horizon Village (Barony Place)- The NCHA will accept applications for 3-bedroom units only.
Applications will be ranked and selected by date and time of receipt of application.

Public Notice of 2021 Waiting List Opening

The North Charleston Housing Authority (NCHA) will officially re-open the Liberty Hill Project Based Voucher (PBV) wait list on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 6:00 pm until further notice for the following:

  • Liberty Hill Project Based Voucher (PBV) program - The NCHA will accept applications for 3- and 4-bedroom units.

Applications will be ranked and selected by date and time of receipt of application.

Applications are only accepted for open waiting lists. You are only allowed one application. Applications are available on-line; the NCHA will take steps to ensure that the application process is accessible to those people who might have difficulty complying with the normal, standard NCHA application process. This could include people with disabilities, certain elderly individuals, as well as persons with Limited English proficiency (LEP).

If you or a member of your family are disabled, elderly individual or a person(s) with limited English Proficiency (LEP), and would like to receive a paper application, please contact the Admission Department by phone (843) 266-5919 or email between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on the day the wait list(s) are opened. Any request received after the opening date will not be considered.

Online pre-applications are accepted at any time while a waiting list(s) are open. Click here to apply.

After applying, you will receive a confirmation number. This confirmation number shows your pre-application has been received. Applying does not guarantee placement on a waiting list. To check your status on the waiting list, please go to Applicant Portal approximately 48 hours after your application has been submitted and register.
